August 28-31: Another Loss To Manchester City

Monday 29:  Having taken just one point from their two home matches Pompey now face three tough away fixtures in six days, starting on Wednesday (31st) with a visit to Manchester City. They then go to Middlesbrough on Saturday and Aston Villa on Monday. 

Tuesday 30:  "Plum" reflects on Blackpool's win at Fratton Park last Saturday. The match brought to an end Pompey's run of 32 home matches without defeat. 

Bill Hindmarsh and Lindy Delapenha have been included in the Pompey party that headed north this morning in preparation for matches at Manchester City, Middlesbrough and Aston Villa in the next six days.

Wednesday 31:  Right-back Jasper Yeuell has a thigh injury and will miss Pompey's match against Manchester City at Maine Road this evening. Bill Hindmarsh deputises. Kick off is at 6pm.

The full Pompey line-up for tonight's match at Manchester City is: Butler, Hindmarsh, Ferrier, Scoular, Flewin, Dickinson, Harris, Reid, Clarke, Phillips, Froggatt. 

Pompey Reserves face Watford Reserves at Fratton Park tonight (6pm). The Pompey team is: Humpston, Rookes, Gunter, Elder, Field, Spence, Dawson, Thompson, Henderson, Pickett, Evans. 

It's all over at Maine Road and Pompey have been beaten for the second time in five days.

A 49th minute goal from Man City's George Smith sent Pompey spinning to defeat at Maine Road tonight. It was a frustrating evening for the Blues. For long spells they looked capable of winning the game, but were let down by a lack of fire power 

Match Summary: Manchester City 1, Portsmouth 0

Pompey Reserves fared no better than their first team counterparts tonight. They lost 2-0 at home to Watford Reserves.
