The Pompey History Society is a Registered Charity (No. 1201687) incorporated in January 2023. The society was initially set up in 2015 by a group of supporters committed to preserving, conserving and sharing the rich archive of Portsmouth Football Club.

The society is endorsed by Portsmouth FC and works closely with the club on a range of heritage activities. Since it was formed some of the projects the society has undertaken include:

  • Commissioning a replica Football League Division One trophy for the club's Boardroom
  • Commissioning a replica Football League Division Three trophy for the club's Boardroom
  • Managing a Heritage Fund oral history project (2019-2021) entitled Pompey: Champions of England
  • Producing Pompey Voices supplements in the Sports Mail
  • Staging History Days at Fratton Park
  • Supplying material from the archive for the club's commercial activities
  • Supplying volunteer official Portsmouth FC Stadium Tour guides

The society is funded by donations and bequests, fundraising activities and grant funding.
