PORTSMOUTH FC HALL OF FAME
HOW IT WORKS
The Hall of Fame was inaugurated in 2009 by the club’s Former Players’ Association and ran successfully until 2019 until the pandemic intervened. It was decided to revive and revamp the event for the club’s 125th anniversary in 2023/24. Potential inductees are nominated as follows:
- Former Players’ Association: Living former players
- Pompey History Society: Posthumous former players and other club servants
- PFC Women: Female players and club servants
A committee, comprising Alan Knight, Ashleigh Emberson and Matt Barker from PFC, advised by the Pompey History Society, then selected the three inductees, one living and two posthumous. To be nominated, a player needed to meet at least one of the following criteria and an honorary inductee at least both of the final two:
- Made at least 150 league appearances
- Scored at least 50 league goals
- Won promotion and/or a trophy while at the club
- Represented their country with distinction while at the club
- Qualified for a testimonial or ten years’ service
- Made an outstanding social, cultural or sporting contribution to the club
The Hall of Fame is now organised by the Pompey History Society, working with the Former Players Asscociation, on behalf of the club.
