THEIR 4 TO 1 CUP!

A rare newspaper from the day after the 1939 FA Cup Final is the latest addition to the club archive after it was discovered in a box after the mother of a Pompey fan passed away last year.

Alan Green and his nephew Darren Underhill came down to Fratton Park with a copy of the Sunday Graphic from April 30,1939 which had the headline ‘THEIR 4 TO 1 CUP! in reference to Pompey’s cup win against Wolves the previous day.

The newspaper had belonged to Alan’s father Ken. Who was a Pompey fan, and it had remained in a bag on top of a wardrobe until it was discovered last November as the family were clearing the house of his mother Marjorie who had just died aged 93.
