An opportunity to hear all about Portsmouth Football Club’s title successes and see some of the club’s silverware up close will be the theme of a free public talk at Fratton Park.

The Pompey History Society is holding its AGM on Wednesday August 7 at 6.45 for 7.00 pm in the Legends Lounge and, afterwards, at approximately 7.30 pm, the society’s Chair Colin Farmery, will be giving a talk about the club’s silverware, displaying some of the trophies from the club’s trophy cabinet to illustrate it.

Only society members, currently numbering around 70, who attend will be able to participate in the AGM, although prospective members are welcome to come along and observe to find out more about the charity’s activities.

Colin said: “This is a great opportunity to find out about society activities and how to get personally involved. Two of the items on display will be replicas of the Football League  first division and third division trophies the society raised funds for and commissioned.

“We will also be announcing our fundraising campaign for the new season, which is an exciting project to bring a significant item, or should I say pair of items, into the club archive for first time.

“The society has the twin charitable objectives of preserving and conserving the club archive and sharing it with the public, which is why we have made this talk free to all. We have a capacity of around 70 and places are filling up steadily.”
