March 14-20: In The Build Up To The Semi-Final Pompey Don't Forget To Beat Derby In The League

Monday 14:  Pompey’s club secretary Mr Dan Clarke (pictured here) greets some of the supporters who queued overnight for FA Cup semi-final tickets.

Friday 18:  With Ike Clarke still on the sick list and Bert Barlow resting, the Pompey team to face Derby County at Fratton Park tomorrow will be unchanged from the eleven that won at Sunderland last Saturday.

The Pompey team to face Derby County at Fratton Park tomorrow will be: Butler, Yeuell, Ferrier, Scoular, Flewin, Dickinson, Harris, Reid, Froggatt, Phillips, Parker.

Derby County will arrive at Fratton Park tomorrow hoping to be the first visiting side to win there since Manchester United on Boxing Day 1947.

Pompey Reserves will be in London to play Millwall Reserves at The Den tomorrow afternoon. Pompey: Humpston, Rookes, Drummond, Elder, Bowler, Duggins, Gordon, Brown, Asher, Pickett, Bennett.

Travelling with Pompey Reserves tomorrow will be the Pompey "A" team, who are going on to play a friendly at Chingford.

Phil Gunter will be one of the local youngsters appearing for Pompey "B" against Kingston Old Boys at Paulsgrove tomorrow afternoon.

Pompey are trying to secure an additional allocation of tickets for their FA Cup semi-final against Leicester City at Highbury next Saturday. All 25,000 of the original allocation were snapped up earlier this week.

Saturday 19:  A superb 17th minute goal from Len Phillips was enough to give Pompey victory against their title-chasing rivals Derby County in front of a crowd of 43,188 at Fratton Park this afternoon.

The match lacked much of the colour that accompanied the sixth-round FA Cup tie between the sides three weeks ago, but Pompey deserved the win that takes them a step closer to a league and cup double.

Len Phillips' winning goal was an absolute peach. Froggatt provided the defence-splitting through-ball, and Phillips raced away and unleashed a terrific shot that gave goalkeeper Webster no chance.

Webster later twice saved brilliantly from Phillips as Pompey looked to increase their lead.  Match Summary: Portsmouth 1, Derby County 0

Injuries to Phil Rookes and Gerry Bowler meant that Pompey Reserves were reduced to nine men for much of the second half at Millwall this afternoon. The Lions took full advantage of this, winning 5-1. Match Summary: Millwall Reserves 5, Portsmouth Reserves 1

Sunday 20:  Last night's Football Mail brought us all the news of Pompey's crucial win over Derby County at Fratton Park.
