Monday 10: The draw for the fourth round of the FA Cup has just been broadcast on the wireless and Pompey have been handed another home tie. They will face Sheffield Wednesday of Division Two on Saturday 29th January.

Tuesday 11: The Lord Mayor and Lady Mayoress joined Pompey players, directors, and staff - and all their wives and husbands - at the club's New Year party at the Rock Gardens Pavilion last night.
Pompey director Mr Harry Wain was an enthusiastic MC, persuading people to do "turns" at the microphone during the club's New Year party. The players who went to Denmark during the close season soulfully rendered "I'll Take You Home Again Kathleen".
Bill Thompson, Len Phillips, Ian Drummond, Harry Ferrier and Jimmy Elder all crooned a Bing Crosby number during last night's Pompey New Year party.
Some of the Pompey players' wives also displayed their show business talents during last night's New Year party. Mrs Jimmy Scoular sang, and Mrs Duggie Reid tap danced.
Inside-forward Bert Barlow brought the house down with his fantastic musical act at Pompey's New Year party last night. The 1939 FA Cup hero played the spoons, and even performed an encore by popular demand!
Earlier yesterday Pompey gave a party for all the children of the players and staff. at which all the youngsters received gifts of toys.
Wednesday 12: Pompey officials have announced that the club has leased 20 acres of land between Fareham and Gosport for development as an additional training facility. The land, in Wych Lane, will also host Pompey "A" team matches in the Hampshire League.
Pompey may be forced into making a change to their line up when they face Stoke at Fratton Park on Saturday. Right-back Phil Rookes, who injured an ankle in the cup match last week, seems unlikely to be fit. Jasper Yeuell stands by to replace him
Friday 14: Pompey have an opportunity to tighten their grip on the leadership of the First Division when they play Stoke City at Fratton Park tomorrow. Cup replays have left both Derby County and Manchester United without league fixtures.

After a blank week of competitive football Pompey Reserves will be back in Combination Cup action tomorrow afternoon when they take on West Ham United Reserves at Upton Park.
Gordon Neave has recovered from his knee injury and will return to the Pompey Reserves side at West Ham United tomorrow. Pompey: Humpston, Hindmarsh, Thompson, Neave, Bowler, Duggins, Brown, Delepenha, Reid, Lawler, Parker.
The Pompey "A" team are to play a friendly against RAOC Hilsea tomorrow afternoon. RAOC will be at full strength, and their team will therefore include Maurice Leather, the goalkeeper who has recently had trials at Fratton Park.
Pompey will be fielding a total of four teams tomorrow. The "B" team will travel to Aldershot to take on the Shots "A" team. Recently-signed youngsters Phil Gunter, Alex Wilson, Jackie Henderson and Ralph Hunt will all be in the Pompey line-up.
Saturday 15: Pompey have announced the arrangements for the sale of stand tickets for their FA Cup fourth round clash with Sheffield Wednesday at Fratton Park on January 29th (2.30pm). Centre stand seats will cost 7/6, wing stand will be 5/-.
Shareholders and season ticket holders ONLY will be able to purchase centre stand seats and they have until Friday January 21st to do so. They are asked to make application by post, rather than by calling at the office.
Of the wing stand tickets, half will be available for postal application, and half to personal callers. Postal applications should be made immediately; personal applications on Monday January 24th.
Pompey officials also wish to remind supporters that admission to the terraces for the Sheffield Wednesday FA Cup tie will be by cash payment at the turnstiles as usual.

A Jack Froggatt goal in the 57th minute gave Pompey victory over a hard-working but out-classed Stoke City side before 34,538 at Fratton Park this afternoon.
Throughout the match Pompey dominated possession, and probably should have won by a greater margin, but the Stoke defence was resilient.
The Potters were fortunate to survive Pompey's claims for a penalty when two defenders appeared to handle, but referee Mr Beckley (Worcester) waved play on. The official then infuriated the crowd when he awarded Pompey a corner then changed his mind
Froggatt was brought down as he cut inside, but he dusted himself off to take the free kick himself. His effort looked innocuous but at the last moment the ball swerved and Stoke's goalkeeper Herod could only help it into the net.
Pompey's win maintains their two point lead at the top of the First Division. They will face a tough challenge next week when they travel to face fifth placed Charlton Athletic at The Valley. Match Summary: Portsmouth 1, Stoke City 0
There were gruelling conditions for Pompey Reserves' Combination Cup match at West Ham this afternoon, but the teams overcame the sea of mud and damp, foggy atmosphere to produce a 2-2 draw. Parker and Delepenha score the Pompey goals. Match Summary: West Ham Reserves 2, Portsmouth Reserves 2
Notts County beat Newport County 11-1 in the Division Three (South) match in Nottingham this afternoon.
