Pompey came from behind to lead 2-1 against Manchester United but a late goal from the visitors meant the points were shared after a thrilling 2-2 draw at Fratton Park this afternoon.

The match looked to be heading towards a goalless first half but in the 44th minute Reg Flewin brought down Mitten in the area, and the United outside left got to his feet to put the visitors ahead from the penalty spot.

Pompey equalised on 60 minutes when Jimmy Scoular crossed from the right and Jack Froggatt flashed the ball past Crompton from 20yards.

Three minutes later Pompey were in front. Bert Barlow collected a loose ball and squared it inside to Clarke who made no mistake with his first time effort.

With time running out and the crowd of 29,966 ready to celebrate victory a lapse of concentration in Pompey's defence allowed McGlen to rise and head the equaliser for United.

The draw leaves Pompey in third place in the Division One table with 28 points from 21 matches. Derby County are top with with 30 points, Second place Newcastle have 29 points. It's tight at the top as the season reaches its halfway stage!
