November 14-20: Down To Seventh After Defeat At Burnley

Tuesday 15:  Pompey have enquired about Sheffield Wednesday's inside-forward Eddie Quigley. A deal is unlikely, however, as it is understood that the Owls want a player of equal calibre in exchange. Pompey are unwilling to part company with any of their stars.

Wednesday 16: Portsmouth Reserves 4, Southend United Reserves 0 (Mid Week League)

Friday 18:  Len Phillips has tonsillitis and will miss Pompey's match against Burnley at Turf Moor tomorrow. His place at inside-left will be filled by Bert Barlow.

The full Pompey team to face Burnley at Turf Moor tomorrow will be Butler, Hindmarsh, Ferrier, Scoular, Spence, Dickinson, Harris, Reid, Clarke, Barlow, Froggatt.

Pompey's costly new full-back Jimmy Stephen will be in the Reserves' line-up when they take on Aldershot Reserves at Fratton Park tomorrow. Pompey: Leather, Stephen, Mansell, Gunter, Howard, Pickett, Dawson, Delapenha, Ames, Gordon, Burnett.

Saturday 19:  Pompey are looking for at least a point against Burnley at Turf Moor this afternoon. Kick-off is in 10 minutes. We'll have all the match details shortly after the final whistle.

The final whistle has sounded at Burnley, and Pompey are still searching for their first-ever point at Turf Moor.

Final score: Burnley 2 - 1 Pompey Pompey scorer: Bert Barlow Attendance: 28,541

Six visits, six defeats. That's Pompey's record at Burnley after losing 2-1 at Turf Moor this afternoon. Pompey were poor for the first hour. They rallied slightly once they were two-down but had left themselves with too much to do.

There was a hint of offside about Burnley's first goal, from Morris, after 18 minutes but Pompey showed little appetite for a fightback and they could have few complaints about the second goal (Potts) on the hour mark.

Pompey pulled a goal back on 67 minutes when Bert Barlow converted a cross from Peter Harris. The Clarets' goal then came under siege but it was too little, too late, and Bob Jackson's team will return to Portsmouth empty handed tonight.

Pompey drop to seventh in the First Divison table as a result of their defeat at Burnley. They have 19 points from 17 matches, eight points behind table-topping Liverpool, but, worryingly, only seven points ahead of the second relegation place

Match Summary: Burnley 2, Portsmouth 1

Aldershot Reserves took a first-minute lead against Pompey Reserves at Fratton Park this afternoon, but Pompey fought back strongly to dominate the match and run out 5-1 winners. The goals came from Bennett (2), Delapenha (2) and Pickett.

Portsmouth Reserves 5, Aldershot Reserves 1

The Pompey Reserves match at Fratton Park this afternoon was preceded by the English Schools Shield second-round tie between Portsmouth and Slough. The Pompey boys won 2-0 with goals from Tunnadine and Stevens.
