South Stand Centenary details

The South Stand will celebrate its Centenary on 29th August 2025.
Designed by Archibald Keir Leitch it was built in just ten weeks in the summer of 1925.

Leitch was known as the man that built British football stadiums and in the late 1920s he was hired by 16 out of the 22 clubs in the English First Division.

A number of events are being planned to celebrate the Centenary and including an unveiling of a pictorial display with some stories of fans who have sat in stand over the years. We can also confirm that a talk by renowned historian Simon Inglis on the history of football stadia will ne held on 7th October at 7pm. Details of tickets will be released nearer the date.
