September 12-18: Pompey Beat Huddersfield To Go Seventh

Monday 12:  A photo analysis of Duggie "Thunderboots" Reid's hat-trick goal against Everton at Fratton Park last Saturday when Pompey trounced the Toffees 7-0 was in papers such as the Daily Graphic today - see last week for the excellent Daily Graphic newspaper photos.

Wednesday 14:  After being with Pompey for two seasons Evan Evans, the 21-year old reserve outside-left, has joined Rhyl Athletic.

In local football, the draw has been made for the next round of the Portsmouth Senior Cup and Portsmouth Junior Cup.

Portsmouth Reserves 1, Charlton Athletic Reserves 1

Friday 16:  The Lord Mayor (and Pompey director) Alderman John Privett lit the Freedom Torch at Southsea's D-Day Stone earlier today.

Ninth-placed Pompey visit Huddersfield Town in the First Division tomorrow. Leeds Road has been a happy hunting ground for the Blues since the war. The goalless draw there last season was the only point they have left there in three visits.

Pompey will be unchanged for tomorrow's visit to Huddersfield Town. Jasper Yeuell has travelled as twelfth man. Team: Butler, Hindmarsh, Ferrier, Scoular, Flewin, Dickinson, Harris, Reid, Clarke, Phillips, Froggatt.

Pompey Reserves have a stiff fixture with Bournemouth Reserves at Fratton Park tomorrow afternoon (3pm). Team: Humpston, Turner, Rookes, MacDonald, Thompson, Spence, Dawson, Elder, Asher, Henderson, Bennett.

Saturday 17:  Pompey will be in their "change" strip of red shirts and black shorts for this afternoon's match against Huddersfield Town at Leeds Road. Kick-off is in 30 minutes.

It's full time at Leeds Road where Pompey remain unbeaten since the war.

Result: Huddersfield Town 0 - 1 Pompey Pompey goalscorer: Ike Clarke Attendance: 26,222

A second-half strike by centre-forward Ike Clarke was enough to give Pompey both points at Huddersfield this afternoon. After an evenly contested first 45 minutes Peter Harris delivered a carefully placed centre for Clark to turn home on the hour.

Ike Clarke's goal for Pompey at Huddersfield Town this afternoon gave them back-to-back wins for the first time this season, and lifts them to seventh place in the Division One table.

Match Summary: Huddersfield Town 0, Portsmouth 1

Gordon Neave scored for Pompey Reserves in their 1-1 draw with Bournemouth Reserves at Fratton Park this afternoon.
