Match Summary |
After five tears Pompey are back at Wembley and again lose to late goals. Sep Rutherford gave Pompey the lead on 28 minutes when a 19 year old Frank Swift allowed his cross shot to cross the line. Fred Tilson famously consoled Swift during the interval promising the young stopper he would score two goals and take the cup back to Maine Road. Sadly for Pompey an injury to Centre Half Jimmy Allen would hamper them and that Tilson prediction came true with two late strikes robbing them of the glory. |
