| Match Summary | After forty one years Pompey manage to beat their old rivals at Fratton Park. In a typical derby game both sides missed chances galore as the tension took its toll. But on sixty eight minutes Smertin fed Steve Stone on the right of the box and he crossed for the Yak to roll the ball past Niemi to huge Fratton relief. Phillips hit the post for the visitors in the last minute but Pompey held on to send a huge Mother's Day present to the Blue half of Hampshire. |
