May 1-2: The Blues Celebrate In Style At The Royal Beach

Coaches provided by Southdown Motor Services were dressed for the occasion when Pompey paraded the League Championship Trophy through the streets of the city last night.

Pompey players and staff were given a tremendous send off from Fratton Park when they embarked on a tour of the city last night. Flags and bunting adorned the houses in Frogmore Road, and local residents packed the roadside.

Inch-by-inch, the coaches carrying Pompey's triumphant players and staff edge their way through the crowd of people waiting in the Guildhall Square to pay tribute to the newly-crowned League Champions.

The League Champions continued on their tour of the city after a short reception hosted by the Lord Mayor at the Guildhall last night. The parade ended at the Royal Beach Hotel in Southsea where there was a dinner for 300 guests.

300 guests attended Pompey's League Championship celebration dinner at the Royal Beach Hotel last night. The trophy had pride of place on the top table, and the Championship pennant was draped in the background. 

Pompey still have two fixtures to play in their Golden Jubilee season. On Wednesday 4th May they meet Arsenal at Highbury, and on Saturday 7th May they travel to Maine Road to face Manchester United.

Monday 2:  Pompey’s Jimmy Dickinson and Peter Harris have been included in the England party to tour Sweden, Finland, Norway, Holland and France later this month.
