1940s Ladies headscarves donated

Cotterell donation

A couple of rare women's headscarves from the 1950s and a set of menus from supporters' club dinners from the 1950s and 60s, as well as a complete jigsaw from the mid-1950s were part of a terrific collection donated to the society recently by Phil Cotterell.

Also included were a set of home programmes from the late 1940s and early 1950s, which are now relatively rare. The items belonged to Phil's mum and dad, who were regulars at Fratton Park in the period.

PHS Chair of Trustees Colin Farmery, who accepted the collection on behalf of the society, said: "This was a delightful collection, which has one or two choice items in it. I am particularly taken with the headscarf, issued when Pompey won the league in 1949, which has been over-printed with 1950 as well to recognise we did it twice in a row."
