Biography Jasper always proved to be an able deputy should either Phil Rookes or Harry Ferrier be injured. Enjoying a run of 14 games while the latter was injured in 1947/48 he went on to make 12 appearances during the championship seasons before moving to Barnsley in 1952. Sadly, an old injury led to early retirement but he played several seasons of non-league football at a decent level with Hastings United, Weymouth and Tunbridge Wells before finally calling it a day. He never lost his love for the game though, and acted as gateman at Sussex County League Sidley United right up to his death.
