Match Summary | Pompey's first Cup Final ends in a disappointing defeat after Left Back Tom Bell was forced off with injury and returned only to play a passenger on the left wing. Pompey while dominating the first half could not break Bolton down and Weddle was always a threat despite being well marked by Finney. After the interval the Trotters came more into the game and well Bell tore a muscle with about twenty minutes left the tide turned and goals from Butler and Blackmore settled it. As the Football Mail said 'Pompey were beaten but not disgraced.' |
