Pompey History Society Launch New Project

Share your memories of club's back-to-back titles

Pompey receive the Division One trophy

The Pompey History Society are excited to announce the launch of a new Heritage Lottery Funded project.

‘Pompey: Champions Remembered – 70 Years On’ will celebrate and reminisce on the success of the club winning the league title for the first time in 1948/49 and retaining it the following season.

As part of the project, the society are looking to interview anyone with memories relating to those years.

Those recollections will be compiled into an electronic database for future posterity and displayed as part of an exciting new exhibition in Portsmouth.

If you want to share your memories – or learn more about the project – please come along to the launch event in Fratton Park’s Legends Lounge (located behind the Fratton End).

It will be held between 11am and 1pm on Wednesday (September 4) and don’t forget to bring along any memorabilia.

Everyone is welcome, so if you know of anyone who might be able to contribute, please invite them along as well.

For more information or to confirm attendance, please contact the project coordinator by emailing
