October 11-17: 'Pompey worthy leaders'

Monday 12: Local builders Messrs R J Winnicott Ltd are carrying out the current phase of repairs to the Milton end terracing and the railway end refreshment bar at Fratton Park. The work is costing Pompey £487.

Friday 15: League leaders Portsmouth will field the same team for the eighth consecutive match when they entertain Sunderland at Fratton Park tomorrow (3pm). Pompey: Butler, Rookes, Ferrier, Scoular, Flewin, Dickinson, Harris, Barlow, Reid, Phillips, Froggatt

Portsmouth Reserves travel to face Cardiff City Reserves at Ninian Park tomorrow (3pm). Pompey Res: Humpston, Hindmarsh, Drummond, Bowler, McCoy, Thompson, Brown Delapenha, Field, Elder, Parker.

Saturday 16: Heavy rain has probably dampened Pompey's hopes of another full house at Fratton Park this afternoon, but the covered accommodation is looking pretty full and there is still an hour to go before kick-off in the match against Sunderland.

Purchasers of the matchday programme (right) can read all about the happy 'double-top' which describes Pompey's start to the season.

It was “The Peter Harris Show” at Fratton Park this afternoon. Pompey’s flying winger set up goals for Jack Froggatt and Duggie Reid before netting one himself as the Blues cruised to a comfortable 3-0 win against Sunderland.

After an early Barlow goal was ruled out for offside Froggatt put Pompey ahead on 11 minutes. A magical run and low cross from Harris found the Yorkshireman who made no mistake from close range.

In the 27th minute Portsmouth doubled their lead. Harris’s blistering speed took him to the goal line, where he cut the ball back for Reid to hammer it home from 12 yards.

Three minutes into the second half Harris brought the house down, turning his full back this way and that before cutting inside and unleashing a drive that evaded the unavailing dive of goalkeeper Robinson.

Midway through the second half Froggatt, who had been limping since before the interval, was withdrawn, but 10-man Pompey were never in danger of allowing the two points to slip through their fingers.

Despite the heavy rain 35,205 turned out to witness this fine Pompey performance. The Blues are now unbeaten in their first 13 matches. They have a 100% record at Fratton Park and remain two points clear at the top of the table.

Match Summary: Portsmouth 3, Sunderland 0

Portsmouth Reserves drew 2-2 with Cardiff City in their Football Combination match at Ninian Park this afternoon. Field and Goring (own goal) were the Pompey scorers.

Match Summary: Cardiff City Reserves 2, Portsmouth Reserves 2
